Oh hi! Remember me? It's your friendly neighborhood singer/songwriter/witch- Emily Rohm! Last time you heard from me, my album was in full swing and on it's way to being ready. And then... a pandemic happened. I never would have bet on THAT being something that would delay this album release. But here we are in 2020. Anything goes.
The good news is that I have been safely recording bits and pieces all summer. It's taking extra time, since I can't get my musicians in a room together to record, so we have been recording my talented friends separately and safely. But wow, it is time consuming. My songwriting partner and engineer, Bryan Robb, has been working so many hours to make this happen and I am SO grateful to him. I can't wait for you to hear what we've been cooking up. The vibe of the album started out more folk-inspired, but has evolved into what I'm calling "Theatrical Pop." I have been influenced by bits of Kate Bush, Anais Mitchell, Harry Nilsson, Queen, The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, and music theatre (Including Ride the Cyclone!) It's eclectic and moody and goes from melancholy to upbeat on a dime. Hmm, sort of like me.
Speaking of Ride the Cyclone (that little musical I was in for five years and traveled across the country doing)- we finally recorded a CAST ALBUM! We recorded our parts in 5 different studios across the US and Canada. I can't even imagine the work that is going into mixing that beast, but I was able to hear a sneak peek of it and...holy smokes. It's so cool. Keep an eye out for the release date!
Speaking of release dates- You fabulous donors are the first to hear this... The title has been finalized! My debut solo album is called (drumroll.........)
"Traveling Show"
AND the title track will be released as a single on BandCamp.com on Halloween! The rest of the album will be available for streaming and purchase on iTunes/Spotify/etc. by the end of the year. You will be first to hear, of course.
Thank you SO MUCH for your generosity and patience. I wish I could perform a live concert for this kickoff, but it will have to wait until the world is in a better place. Until then, I send you all virtual hugs, handshakes, and/or a tip of the hat. Oh, and make sure you vote. Thank you.
